“This is the third time we have used His Workmanship. So far we’ve had great crews on our property. They have weeded out hosta beds, dug up buckthorn, planted several shrubs and installed around 70 bags of mulch. I have referred them to my friends and plan to have them come back next summer for more work. I would highly recommend His Workmanship.” – Linda

The weeding crew that came was efficient and followed my instructions very well. They avoided all my plants and targeted all the weeds. I really appreciated the work of this crew and I look forward to working with them again soon.
Great experience, will be hiring them again for additional work!
The communication was excellent! Crew was on time and did my small job to my satisfaction. I will definitely use these guys again!
From contact to booking to schedule availability to accountability and job completion, HisWorkmanship (Logan & Chris) are unrivaled in customer service with the highest level of execution. Only thing I wish was that I'd remembered to take before/after but it wouldn't have captured their energy tackling this project successfully. Communication and follow through was superb throughout!
Respectful, responsible, and most highly recommended!
We were so happy to have these guys come and clean up the yard! They filled up their time slot with things we weren’t even planning on, super thankful for a cleaned up look in time for guests tonight.
Everything worked as described. Showed up on time. Worked responsibly and diligently. We will definitely use this service again.
Jared and crew were in fact, very fast at getting the work done. This photos below show probably about 2-3 hours of work between two workers. There was a lot of weeding! Would hire again in a heartbeat!
I've used a number of landscape/yard maintenance companies. We have a big property, and we're seniors so yardwork is less appealing. I contacted HisWorkmanship for a big job. They were on-time, hard working (in summer heat) very professional. We're now rethinking selling, because we've found a company that does a great job for a reasonable price. Elijah (crew chief), Caleb and Dylan were great. They were missing a few tools, but fortunately we had them.
.
Fast response to my initial inquiry, with a hard working crew who does excellent work - highly recommend!
Hard working team, in 90 degree weather. They got our tough weeding done! Look's great! Kim & Lori Norlien
His Workmanship made it easy to request and schedule service. The work was done thoroughly and the team was pleasant to work with. I'm very happy that my protect is now complete.
The young men, Noah and Carlos worked hard and quickly to complete the job in the allotted time frame. Good communication and followed my instructions! Good job!
Awesome Crew! On time, Quick, Polite, Respectful, Very Thorough and Performed tasks to the exact request. As if this wasn't awesome enough; they cleaned up work area after job was complete. Landscaping professionals! I will hire again without a second thought! Thank you His Workmanship. May God Keep you all Blessed. 3rd review and wouldn't change a word. Great Impressions
The work done was excellent. Did exactly as asked. Very hard workers.
This company has laid mulch for us two years in a row and they are professional, hard workers who do an amazing job. I will continue to hire them for my mulch services!!
Working with His Workmanship has been seamless. They respond quickly to requests and typically can schedule a work crew within a few days. I’ve used them three times now. The team shows up on time and works hard to complete the project. Their employees are friendly and professional. I would recommend them to anyone who needs help with yard work.
Will and Javan we're excellent workers. They stayed on task and got a huge amount done during their shift. They communicated well about progress and checked in with questions as needed. Eric was a great coordinator/scheduler/communicator. I will be using them again!
We hired 4 guys through His Workmanship, for a very large landscaling project in Bloomington. We were very pleased with outcome of our project. Our original contact was very good at communicating with us from the start. We were able to have 4 guys lined up/project completed in a day. Initial proect from inquiry email to finshed project took less than a week. The project included spreading 8 yards of river rock, pulling some dead bushes out, weeding several areas in our yard, and transplanting some irises. The guys showed up on time, brought needed equipment, and worked 7.5 hours. My husband was out working with them, just to lend an extra hand. He said that the guys asked just a few, but excellent questions. We wil work with organization again for sure!

Frequently Asked Questions

Most hedge trimming companies charge $40 – $50 per hour. Very rarely will a landscape company give a flat fee with an on-site estimate for such a small project like trimming bushes. Some lawn service companies will have hedge trimming as an add-on to their lawn mowing services.

Overgrown bushes can be a major eyesore. Regular shrub care will keep them looking nice. Think of it like giving your bushes a haircut. It’s not pleasant to look at someone having a bad hair day, is it? Moreover, if you don’t trim off dead branches, they could become a safety hazard because dead branches are more likely to dislodge from the bush. During a windy storm, they could get torn off and damage your property.

Lilac should be pruned right after they are done flowering in the spring. You will want to avoid trimming them in the summer or fall. The reason is because that may ruin the flowers for next year since lilacs grow the buds for the following year after the current year’s flowers have fallen off. This applies to both big and small lilac bushes.

Most lilacs can grow to be about 30 feet tall without any pruning, but some smaller ones only get to half that height. Lilac bushes will reach excessively tall heights unless they get pruned on a regular basis. Therefore, the ideal amount of pruning that should be done is 5-7 inches, depending on how overgrown they are.

There are 4 different classifications of hydrangea: Annabelle, PeeGee, Oakleaf, Mophead. The best time to prune Annabelle and PeeGee is during the fall, so anytime between September and November. You can trim them down low to the ground because they will grow back with new buds on the new wood every spring. Since Oakleaf and Mophead produce buds on old wood, the best time to prune them is after their summer bloom, so from mid-June to late-July.

You can start cutting back roses once the forsythias have started blooming, which is in early spring so anytime in April. But don’t overdo it because major pruning should wait until late summer or early winter. That’s when roses will begin the dormant process. As the flowers fade, you can extend the rose blooming period by deadheading them accordingly.

You will need a pair of bypass pruning shears for pruning roses. First, remove the leaves so you can clearly see the rose bush stems. Second, clip off the dead wood. Brown is dead; green is alive. Third, remove thin growth with weak stems. Fourth, take out any branches that cross over one another. Crossing branches can rub together causing disease or damage.

The two options to choose from are handheld shears or electric hedge trimmers. The benefit of shears is that you get precision. You can give a detailed manicure to each of your bushes. The drawback is that this will take a long time if you have many hedges to cut. The downside for an electric hedge clipper is that you aren’t able to give as much attention to detail, so the hedges can look sloppy from close up. However, it will get done much sooner and nobody will be able to notice the small mistakes from far away.

If you don’t feel comfortable doing it yourself, you should hire a hedge trimming company to do it for you. You should try to get a ballpark estimate on the total cost for your trimming project. In order to get a quote, you’ll likely need to provide information about the number of bushes, how tall they are and how overgrown they’ve become. Google their company name to make sure they have good reviews online. His Workmanship offers professional hedge trimming services. Click here to get a free estimate.

My name is Sam and this is my second summer picking up clients through the His Workmanship platform. I heard about this company from my friend who attends a Christian organization called Young Life. What I like most about this side hustle is that I can work outside with my friends. I’ve made a lot of money and it’s been a great opportunity to help various people in my community. This has definitely been the best summer gig I’ve had thus far in my life.
